Solar and wind power plants in Uzbekistan have produced 9 billion kWh of electricity year-to-date, marking an increase of just under 1 billion kWh in generation in less than a month, the press service of the Ministry of Power said.
There are now 12 PV and 5 wind power plants with a total capacity of 4,682 MW in the country.
It is estimated that 2.73 BCM of natural gas have been saved and the emission of 4 million tons of harmful substances into the atmosphere has been prevented year-to-date.
As of the evening of October 22, Uzbekistan's hydroelectric, PV, and wind power plants had produced 14.52 billion kWh of power, bringing the ratio of renewables in total generation to 23%. In July, this figure stood at 20.3%.
"This amount of power is equivalent to the annual consumption of 6 million households," the Ministry of Power noted.
Last year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev told that by 2030, the ratio of renawable energy in total production in Uzbekistan would reach 54%.
