The Presidents of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić held talks at the Kuksaroy residence with the participation of official delegations, the presidential press service said.
The parties discussed the ways to advance cooperation between Uzbekistan and Serbia.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that this first summit in the history of the bilateral ties was historic and would elevate the Uzbek-Serbian ties to a new level.
“Your official visit in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations is a historic event. Uzbekistan has great sympathy for Serbia. Our peoples are bound by strong ties of friendship and a similar mentality,” the President of Uzbekistan noted.
The parties discussed the ways to increase the trade turnover, preparing a cooperation program in such sectors as mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, chemical industry, information technology and digitalization, agro-industrial complex, tourism and many others.
They pointed out the importance of developing new transport routes "Central Asia - Balkans", including within the framework of the Trans-Caspian corridor.
In an end to promote the economic agenda of cooperation, the parties reached an agreement to hold the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission in Tashkent next year.
The leaders also reviewed bilateral cooperation in the field of organized labor migration, cultural, humanitarian and educational spheres, and exchanged views on regional and international issues.
Following the talks, the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Serbia signed a joint declaration and oversaw signing of a package of bilateral accords, including:
- Agreement on mutual promotion and protection of investments;
- Agreement on economic cooperation;
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of medical services;
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of tourism;
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of education, science and culture; Agreement on cooperation in the fields of engineering, advanced technologies, artificial intelligence and related areas;
- Protocol on cooperation in the field of training diplomatic personnel;
- Inter-ministerial cooperation program for 2026-2027;
- Memorandum of cooperation in the field of labor migration;
- Protocol on cooperation in the field of sports and physical culture;
- Agreement on establishing partnership relations between the cities of Tashkent and Belgrade.
