October of this year was one of the driest and warmest on record in Uzbekistan, Uzhydromet said in a review. Across most of the country, the average monthly air temperature ranged within 1.5–2.7 degrees Celsius, which is higher than the long-term average. Both maximum and minimum temperatures were far from their extreme values and with significantly less rainfall than normal across most of the country.
In the southwestern and southern areas of the country – in Khorezm, Bukhara, Navoi, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya provinces – there was virtually no rain.
In the rest of the country, there were 1-3 days with short periods of rain, with a monthly total of 1-5 mm, and in some areas of Fergana Valley and Karakalpakstan – 7-12 mm.
Heavier rains fell in the foothills and mountainous areas, with monthly precipitation totals ranging from 20 mm to 35 mm, and in the high-mountain zones of the Tashkent area – 50-100 mm.
In the area of the Oigaing meteorological station (the highest in the country), the first snow cover of the season appeared at the end of the month, reaching a height of up to 10 cm.
