After several days of near-normal daily air quality in Tashkent, the air quality commenced to plummet again on Sunday afternoon.
Uzhydromet reported that as of 8:00 PM on Sunday, the level of fine particulate matter PM10 in the air over the past 24 hours was 373 micrograms/m³, 20% higher than the maximum permissible concentration (MPC, 300 μg/m³).
Meanwhile, the level of smaller particles PM2.5 was at 202 μg/m³, 3.4 times higher than the daily MPC (60 μg/m³).
"The increase in these levels was also driven by temperature changes. Sudden temperature changes create an inversion process, which causes fine particulate matter to suspend in the atmosphere and increase its levels," Uzhydromet noted.
These weather conditions will persist throughout the country for several more days. Reportedly, we ask residents and visitors to our republic to observe precautions. It is recommended to limit time spent outdoors and wear masks when going outside.
Air pollution levels were high in many provinces this evening. While, the residents of the capital and various provinces reported smelling a burning odor.
