An attempt to smuggle a large batch of narcotic drugs across the border was stopped in Fergana region, the Customs Committee's press service said.

At the Ravat checkpoint, customs officers and border guards stopped a GM Lacetti entering from Tajikistan. The vehicle was inspected using technical devices.

The check found concealed packages in the gasoline tank. When the tank was opened in the presence of witnesses, customs officers found 6,945 Royal pills, a highly potent medication.

Other seized narcotic drugs: 10.7 kg of hashish, 412 grams of marijuana, and 35 grams of opium—a total of 11.2 kg. All substances were taken as evidence.

The investigation found that the driver intended to smuggle the substances across the border for $2,000, bury them in the garden near his home, and then have them picked up by the customer, a national of Tajikistan.

A criminal case has been opened under Smuggling charge of the Criminal Code, with investigation underway.
