During a press tour to the Republican Specialized Center for Oncology and Radiology on December 24, questions were raised about the fate of the areas of the former Republican Oncology Hospital and its Tashkent branch, which are being annexed to this institution. Earlier, environmental activists expressed concern that these territories could be transferred for private construction through closed resolutions.
The chief of the Tashkent city health department, Botirbek Isabekov stressed that a clear directive had been given on this issue.
“None of the areas will be transferred to the private sector. They will be transferred to the State Assets Agency in accordance with the established procedure. We have received a clear directive to set up a public green park on the site of the Tashkent City Oncology Center (with more than 1,000 rare trees), and a creative industrial park on the site of the Republican Oncology Hospital (with more than 500 perennial trees),” he said.
It should be noted that oncology hospitals that were auctioned off 3 years ago and then repossessed are being gradually merged into a new oncology hospital. The public was worried that their green areas would be given away for construction, and the oncology center staff said that this could be "another business plan".
