In Uzbekistan, maternal and infant mortality rates have decreased by 4.4 and 3.9 times, respectively, over the past 34 years, the Family and Gender Research Institute said in a report.

Whereas in 1991, the maternal mortality rate was 65.3 per 100,000 live births, in 2025, this figure was 14.8.

The infant mortality rate for children under one year of age was 35.5 per 1,000 in 1991, and 9 per 1,000 in 2025. The under-five mortality rate decreased over this period from 48.2 to 12.5 per 1,000.

The "Uzbekistan 2030" Strategy includes an item aimed at reducing the maternal mortality rate to 11 per 100,000 live births in 2026, with an annual decline of 0.5 cases to 9 per 100,000 live births in 2030.

The under-five mortality rate is aimed to be reduced to 9.5 per 1,000 in 2026, to 6.5 per 1,000 by 2030, and to 11 per 1,000 per 1,000 in 2026 and to 9 per 1,000 per 1,000 in 2030.
