Presidents of Uzbekistan and Türkiye, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan co-chaired the fourth meeting of the Bilateral High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in Ankara Thursday.
According to the press service of the Uzbek leader, the two leaders underscored the development of political dialogue, similar positions on international issues, and the growth of mutual trade and the number of joint ventures and projects.
According to the National Statistics Committee, in 2025, Türkiye ranked fourth among Uzbekistan's trade partners ($3 billion, or 3.7%), after China, Russia, and Kazakhstan.
As of now, there are 2,137 Turkish-invested enterprises in Uzbekistan, including 496 joint ventures and 1,641 fully foreign-owned enterprises. Of these, 1,305 are based in Tashkent.
The countries aim to increase the two-way trade to $5 billion in the coming years, including by expanding the list of goods covered by the Preferential Trade Treaty.
At the meeting, the parties agreed to adopt a separate industrial cooperation program.
They underscored the enormous potential for interregional cooperation. By the end of the year, delegations from all regions of Uzbekistan will visit Türkiye to develop a project portfolio with partner regions.
Uzbekistan plans to further implement advanced Turkish practices in agriculture, horticulture, healthcare, and medical tourism.
They also discussed cooperation in the social area, tourism, theater festivals and cultural weeks, joint production of historical films, and the restoration of cultural heritage sites.
The fourth Rectors' Forum of the two countries is scheduled in Bukhara this spring.
