The State Security Service (DXX) has uncovered multiple corruption schemes within the education system of the Namangan province.

In the first case, a department head at the Namangan Provinceal Department of Preschool and School Education demanded $10,000 from a resident of the Turaqurghon district in exchange for appointing them as a principal at a public school in the city of Namangan. DXX agents caught the official red-handed in his office while accepting $8,500 of the requested bribe.

An investigation into his background revealed that this same official was previously convicted in 2011 of fraud, abuse of power, forgery, and bribery.

In a separate incident, an employee of a preschool educational institution in Namangan was apprehended while accepting a $2,000 bribe from an entrepreneur. The business owner was seeking to set up two public-private partnership (PPP) kindergartens, and the employee had promised to secure the necessary contract approvals through the Davlatobod District Department of Preschool and School Education in exchange for the cash.

Following up on this lead, law enforcement agents extended their sting operation and caught the chief specialist of the Davlatobod District Department of Preschool and School Education as she was receiving the bribe money from the intermediary.

Criminal cases have been launched against all individuals involved in both incidents, and active investigations are currently underway.
