January 1, 2018 marked the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic. On the occasion of the auspicious date the two leaders exchanged congratulatory messages.

The Czech President Miloš Zeman said: "Dear Mr. President, allow me to congratulate You on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations’ establishment between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic and express my satisfaction with the current trend in our bilateral relations."

"Enhanced ties and cooperation between our countries in recent years are very important for us. Therefore, I am deeply satisfied that You have accepted my invitation to visit the Czech Republic. I also appreciate the steps You are taking to “open up Uzbekistan", eliminate trade barriers and stimulate the economy. Uzbekistan is our important economic partner ".

"Last but not least, I express my appreciation to the great courage with which You and Your government have undertaken the current reform efforts not only in the economy, but also in foreign policy, judiciary and human rights."

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted in his message: "I am glad that close and fruitful ties based on strong traditions of friendship, mutual respect and understanding have been established between our countries and peoples over the past years. Open and constructive dialogue is actively maintained in various areas and formats, trade and economic ties, with rich cultural and educational exchanges developing dynamically. "

"I reiterate Uzbekistan's firm commitment to further strengthen and deepen the multifaceted partnership with the Czech Republic, its readiness for joint implementation of new programs and projects."
