At 20:00 voting in 9383 polling stations in the country and 44 stations abroad for the Uzbekistan Presidential Election was finished.

At the polling stations in the presence of members of election commissions and observers the seals on ballot boxes were broken and the vote counting started.

By 20:00 approximately 17.94 million people, or 87.83% of the total number of voters had voted, the chairman of the Central Election Commission Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov said at the final briefing.

"The voters have shown high political and civic activity," - Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov added. According to him, the elections were held in full compliance with the principles of transparency, openness and fairness contemplated in the Constitution and laws of Uzbekistan. There were no reports of violations in the voting process, he concluded.

Election preliminary results will be announced on Monday afternoon. According to the Presidential Llection Law, the final results shall be announced by the Central Election Commission in the press not later within 10 days.

The statement of the head of the Central Election Commission was broadcast live on television in Uzbekistan and on the CEC’s website.
