On October 16, the President of Uzbekistan signed the Patronage Bill into Law, which was passed by the Legislative Chamber on August 14 and approved by the Senate on October 11.
According to the document, patronage is a charitable activity by individuals and legal entities provided to culture and art, as well as science, and education.
Patronage may be the transfer of property to recipients, as well as the performance of works or services for them at no cost or on soft terms.
The state may support patrons with waivers and preferences on taxes and other fees, awarding them or perpetuating their names.
Earlier, the Senate press service clarified that since patronage is one of the areas of charity, it is subject to the benefits of the charity law, which are defined in articles 159, 211, 308 and 324 of the Tax Code of Uzbekistan.
