On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Germany, the Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev exchanged congratulatory messages, UzA reported.
In particular Angela Merkel in her message noted: "25 years ago were established the diplomatic relations between our countries. The Uzbek-German ties in economy, security and culture, as well as within the framework of international organizations have become multifaceted and are based on trust."
"The German Government is ready to support Uzbekistan in implementing the Country’s Development Strategy for 2017-2021 aimed at strengthening the powers of the parliament, liberalizing the economy and reforming the legal system. Please be reassured in Germany's support for the further development of Uzbekistan’s friendly, good-neighborly relations with other countries of the region, which You have defined as the priority of foreign policy," the congratulatory message said.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his message emphasized that "the close partnership between our countries that has strong roots deserves the highest appreciation, and is characterized by dynamism and high level of mutual trust."
"We particularly value the fact that since Uzbekistan’s attaining of independence, Germany has firmly supported Uzbekistan’s independent path aimed at development and strengthening of sovereignty, providing real assistance in implementing large-scale democratic and socio-economic reforms," the President added.
The Head of State added that at present "institutional mechanisms have been set up and political consultations between the Foreign ministries, the Intergovernmental Working Group on Trade and Investment, the Uzbekistan-Germany Business Council, the Intergovernmental Commission on German Issues in Uzbekistan, the legal framework consisting of more than 140 accords have been functioning effectively ".
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed satisfaction with the active development of humanitarian ties, with the Representative office of the Goethe Institute, Conrad Adenauer and Friedrich Ebert funds, the Central Board of Schools Abroad and others functioning successfully in Uzbekistan.
The President expressed his confidence that "in the future we should continue our joint efforts to strengthen the Uzbek-German relations on all matters of the bilateral and multilateral agenda based on the principles of mutual respect, equality and consideration of each other's interests."
