Today, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The parties considered the ways to further advance mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthen of strategic partnership ties between the two countries.
They commended the noticeable progress in the implementation of the agreements reached following the summit meetings in June this year. In early August, a regular meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission and the first meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs, trade and transport of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey were held.
The two-way trade has grown by 70% this year. The implementation of joint cooperation projects in the field of agriculture, sericulture and textile industry, mechanical engineering, chemical and other industries has begun. Work is underway to launch the Uzbek-Azerbaijani investment fund. Cultural and humanitarian exchange is expanding.
The two leaders spoke in favor of further building up practical cooperation and noted the importance of holding a forum of regions and an exhibition of the industrial potential of the two countries this autumn.
An exchange of views on the regional agenda also took place. The schedule and agenda of the upcoming multilateral meetings, including the upcoming summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand, were considered.
