Deputy PM/Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjaev met with the Russian Deputy PM Alexei Overchuk in Moscow last Thursday.
As reported by the press service of the government of the Russian Federation, during the talks, the counterparts discussed trade and economic cooperation, which are of mutual interest to Uzbekistan and Russia.
Reportedly the sides focused on expanding investment cooperation, strengthening cooperation ties in industry and developing international transport and logistics communications in the Central Asian region. The parties stressed that the partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia was of a strategic nature, with all areas of cooperation between the countries progressively developing.
During the meeting, Alexey Overchuk noted the upward trend in bilateral trade and economic cooperation. In the first half of 2022, trade between the countries increased by 39% compared to the same period in 2021, with exports increased by 41%, imports - by 35%. A high pace of development of investment cooperation was noted, including already implemented projects in the industrial and energy sectors of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In addition, the parties discussed projects to provide technical assistance in improving the systems of tax administration and cadastral valuation in Uzbekistan and the results of simplification of customs procedures in the implementation of mutual trade.
