Samarkand will host the SCO Summit next week, which will be the first face-to-face meeting of SCO leaders since 2019 and the end of Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the organization, the presidential press service said in a statement.

Reportedly, The main emphasis during Uzbekistan’s chairmanship was placed on such important priorities of cooperation within the organization as enhancing economic and trade ties, promoting industrial cooperation, expanding transport and communication interconnectivity, digital transformation and the green economy, strengthening the international prestige of the SCO.

Earlier in August, the national coordinator of Uzbekistan for the SCO Rahmatulla Nurimbetov held a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on preparations for the upcoming SCO Samarkand Summit.

Answering journalists' questions, he noted that to that date the leaders of all SCO member-states had confirmed their in-person participation in the upcoming Summit.
