Acting Foreign Minister Norov held talks with the European Union Commissioner for Justice, Dide Reynders Justice. The parties discussed the ways to further develop bilateral ties, cooperation to ensure rule of law.
Dide Reynders noted that the European Union supported Uzbekistan's willingness to strengthen democratic institutions, develop civil society, and ensure freedom of speech and religion.
He expressed its readiness to assist in the implementation of the reform program in Uzbekistan, to cooperate in the implementation of joint projects in the field of rule of law.
Minister Norov briefed on the nature and importance of the draft amendments to the Constitution of Uzbekistan. Among the most important proposals, attention was paid to the prohibition of the death penalty, the application of the Miranda Rule, guaranteeing the rights of suspects, the accused or the defendant, adding Habeas Corpus and other issues.
