Delegation of the US Department of Commerce will land in Tashkent on October 16, announced the US Deputy Secretary of Commerce Marisa Lago at a meeting with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Javlon Vakhabov.

During the talks, the parties discussed in detail the agenda of the upcoming visit and the prospects for expanding the mutually beneficial partnership. Marisa Lago expressed her readiness to assist in the promotion of joint programs and initiatives aimed at expanding the two-way trade and investment ties.

Reportedly, the US government is closely following Uzbekistan's achievements in improving the business climate and the investment attractiveness. The Department of Commerce will continue to work closely with the Uzbek authorities and continue to provide full support for the transformations in Uzbekistan.

During the stay of the US delegation in Uzbekistan, meetings and negotiations are planned in a number of ministries and departments, visits to the production facilities of US and local companies, a briefing will be held with members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan AmCham Uzbekistan.

In addition, a meeting is expected with alumni of the Special Short-Term Business Internship Program (SABIT) of the US Department of Commerce and representatives of the Business Women's Association of Uzbekistan.

This visit of the Department of Commerce, led by a Deputy Minister, will be the first visit to Uzbekistan after the pandemic, and Marisa Lago will be the first high-level U.S. trade official in the Joe Biden administration to visit Uzbekistan.
