President Shavkat Mirziyoyev by his May 23 decree "On measures to improve national policies in the sphere of employment and radically increase the effectiveness of labor authorities” converted the Ministry of Labor into Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations," Akhborot on Uzbekistan TV channel reported.
The new ministry will be responsible for national policies on employment, development of labor market infrastructure, including based on public-private partnership, aiding people to find employment, especially for youth.
Other goals of the newly created ministry will be drafting of government order for new jobs, preparing provincial and industry employment programs, measures to ensure the employment for graduates of higher and secondary special, professional educational institutions, monitoring the timely payment of benefits and allowances to low-income families and others.
The decree provides for the creation of a Public Works Foundation under the Ministry. Its main tasks will be to ensure engagement of the temporarily unemployed to works in the framework of large investment projects, construction and repair of roads, housing and utility infrastructure, seasonal agricultural works and etc.
The new ministry shall on a monthly basis publish on the Internet and media the data on the state of the labor market, including the number of people in search for work, receiving unemployment benefits, created jobs, vacancies and other important data.
