Memorandum on cooperation between political research centers of the countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was signed in Tashkent on October 14. On behalf of Uzbekistan this Memorandum was signed by the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies (ISIS) under the President.
Addressing the meeting of think tanks of Turkic countries for the first time in Uzbekistan, the director of ISIS Eldor Aripov drew attention to the fact that mutual cooperation of Turkic-speaking countries was becoming an important element of the modern system of international relations.
"And these are not just words. Our countries have significant human capital - about one hundred and fifty million people. The gross domestic product of the CIS countries is 1.2 trillion dollars. This is 5.5% of Asia's GDP.
The average annual growth rate of the industry in the countries of the OTS is 8-12 percent. There is also a large trade turnover in OTS - twenty one billion dollars. Another important advantage of OTS is that this organization unites countries that are close to each other and promote similar values and principles," said Eldor Aripov.
Director of ISIS also spoke about the steady expansion of Uzbekistan's relations within the Turkic Council during the presidency of Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
"This is evidenced by the facts. Since 2016, the trade volume of Uzbekistan with the countries of the Turkic world has tripled and exceeded nine billion dollars. Twenty-two percent of Uzbekistan's foreign trade is accounted for by OTS countries.
Investment cooperation is also developing at a great pace. Over the past five years, direct investments from the member countries of the Organization to Uzbekistan have increased almost one hundred and fifteen times.
Despite all the positive results, we also understand the importance of not stopping at the achieved achievements," the Kun.uz reporter quotes the words of Eldor Aripov.
