Development of the Uzbek language and its transformation into a language of international communication were discussed in Mecca.

On the occasion of October 21, Day of the Uzbek language, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan held an educational event in Mecca with the participation of fellow countrymen, Dunyo reported.

Reportedly, the number of native speakers of the Uzbek language in the world exceeded 60 million, and the Uzbek language is taught in more than 50 higher educational institutions of foreign countries.

Representatives of the Bukhari diaspora of Uzbek origin living in Saudi Arabia noted that honoring the Uzbek language, which reflects the origin of the nation, raising its status in society, and educating the younger generation in the spirit of respect for the native language, is becoming an urgent task.

Agreement was reached at the meeting on the wide promotion of the Uzbek language in Saudi Arabia, the organization of special courses for children to improve the national language, and provide them with the necessary literature.
