Close relations between the countries of Central Asia make it possible to jointly fight against common challenges and threats in the region, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov at the conference "International and regional cooperation in the field of border security and border control to combat terrorism and prevent the movement of terrorists" on October 18-19 in Dushanbe.
“A solid basis for joint action to combat common challenges and threats in the region is the close relationship between the countries of Central Asia, based on the principles of friendship, good neighborliness, mutual respect and trust,” Vladimir Norov said.
He also noted that the Central Asian Summit contributed to the tapping of the huge potential in ensuring security and sustainable development of the region.
According to him, Central Asia showed the first successful example of the regionalization of the UN global counter-terrorism strategy by adopting a joint action plan for its implementation. National systems for countering terrorism have been formed and country action strategies have been developed that fully comply with UN recommendations, the minister noted.
Vladimir Norov said that the Uzbek authorities were counting on further support from the international community for the processes of rapprochement and cooperation between the countries of Central Asia, the integration of the region into global economic and transport ties.
