Officers of Tashkent-AERO specialized customs complex thwarted an attempt to illegally export historical gold coins from the reign of Russian Emperor Nicholas II.
According to the State Customs Committee (SCC), the customs control revealed the fact of concealment from customs control, namely, the failure to declare gold coins (8 pieces), which were found among the belongings of one of the passengers flying abroad. The citizen also did not have a permit from the relevant authorities for the export of coins.
Currently, customs checks are being carried out on the revealed offense.
The Committee recalled that, according to Article 8 of the Export and Import of Cultural Property Law, cultural property created fifty or more years ago cannot be exported from Uzbekistan.
Cultural assets can be temporarily exported with a special certificate issued by the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan.
