Japan donated more than 270.6 thousand US dollars to Uzbekistan as part of the government program to small-scale social projects.

The ceremony of signing grant contracts for three projects was held on October 20 at the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, the press service of the Japanese Embassy reported.

Grants are allocated to provide medical equipment to three medical institutions:

  • medical association of Nukus district of Karakalpakstan (90.6 thousand dollars);
  • medical association of the Peshkunsky district of Bukhara province (90 thousand dollars); and
  • family polyclinic No. 17 in Almazar district of Tashkent city (89.9 thousand dollars).

Japanese Ambassador Yoshinori Fujiyama noted that since 1995, more than 410 projects in the field of health, education and agriculture worth about $27.6 million had been implemented under this program.
