President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Thursday received a Turkish delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Tuğrul Türkeş, Akhborot on Uzbekistan channel reported.
The Head of State noted with satisfaction the high frequency of meetings and intensification of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian areas.
He stressed that the high level meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Samarkand last November and in Beijing in May this year opened new opportunities for furthering the full-scale and mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.
At the meeting, special attention was paid to expanding cooperation in tourism and to launching of joint projects to create modern high-tech production facilities in Uzbekistan in textile, leather, chemical, pharmaceutical industries, construction materials industries, deep processing of agricultural products and other areas, notably in Urgut Free economic zone.
The sides agreed that there is a significant untapped potential in tourism, including in terms of building modern tourist infrastructure, promotion of joint tourism products, as well as training specialists in this area.
The sides commended the outcomes of the 4th meeting of the intergovernmental economic commission and business forum in Tashkent attended by companies and enterprises of Uzbekistan and Turkey, during which promising areas and projects worth over $ 2 billion were set out.
Tuğrul Türkeş conveyed the words of deep respect and best wishes of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. On behalf of the leadership of Turkey, the Deputy PM thanked the Uzbek side for the support and conditions created for the activities of Turkish companies in the country, and also stressed the readiness for full-scale cooperation.
"Our common goal is to develop partnership ties between Uzbekistan and Turkey. Both sides are working hard to achieve it. Over the past seven months, five meetings at various levels have been held between our countries, and the goal of the current visit of our delegation is to achieve concrete results," Tuğrul Türkeş said.
