Officers of the Khorezm province Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office and the State Security Service arrested the deputy mayor of Urgench district on charges of bribery, the Department reported.
Reportedly, first a lead specialist of Chorvanasl provincial center T.M. was detained, who promised to take 50 hectares of farm land owned by citizen N. for 80,000 dollars to the mayor office’s reserve, and then open a new farm in his name and re-register the land. He was detained while receiving 60 thousand dollars.
On the basis of his testimony, R.A., deputy mayor in charge of agriculture and water management of the Urgench district, was detained while receiving 43 thousand dollars, allegedly for settling the creation of a new farm and land allocation.
On this fact, a criminal case was launched under Taking a bribe charge, with investigation underway.
