The First Deputy Minister of Investments Laziz Qudratov met with the country representative of the European Union in Uzbekistan Charlotte Adrian.

The parties exchanged views on preparations for the Central Asia-EU interconnectivity conference in Samarkand, development of cooperation within the GSP+ system, Uzbekistan's membership in the WTO, and expediting the signing of the Expanded Partnership And Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union.

The visit of the President of the Council of Europe, Charles Michel, to Uzbekistan was organized at a high level, and the wide-scale agreements reached in the high-level negotiations were noted.

The parties reviewed the status and prospects for increasing the volume of the two-way trade. In January-September of this year, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the EU member states increased by almost 15% compared to the same period last year and reached US$ 3.1 billion, which was achieved through Uzbekistan's receiving the GSP+ beneficiary status.

Joint work on the preparation of the extended partnership and cooperation agreement was studied. An agreement was reached to step up the process of consideration of mutual offers on the text of the agreement in order to implement the signing as soon as possible.
