Samarkand will host the maiden international Mirzo Ulugbek Olympiad in physics and astronomy among the 10-11th graders from June 19-23, the Ministry of public education said.
Each country can send six pupils (three in physics and three in astronomy). The olympiad will have two examinations - theoretical and experimental.
The jury will include international experts in physics and astronomy, teachers from the CIS countries, as well as Uzbek scientists.
The winners from Uzbekistan will get the right for an eam-free admission to any university in Uzbekistan.
It is planned that the olympiad will be held every two years.
