But over time, it has shaped itself into an inseparable part of our emotional lives. We are witnessing the rise of a new demographic: singles who have engaged with an AI not just as a tool, but as a romantic companion.

It is true that whatever you say, AI always agrees with you and never rejects or judges your opinions. This “unconditional admiration and agreement” triggers dopamine release, in simple terms the “feeling-good” hormone.

A user who often feels it is wrong to speak out loud his or her ideas and is scared of being discriminated against for them definitely chooses an AI companion to interact with. Having access to these chatbots for children leads to horrible results in the long run. They are in danger here because it is conceivable for them to get hold of such “friends.”

The prefrontal cortex is not fully developed, and with the dopamine hit all of a sudden, they find themselves attached to them instead of their loved ones, spending a lot of hours distracted. Many child psychiatrists warn about the possibility of inappropriate content appearing for young children.

Parents cannot always control and supervise what kind of content their child is consuming. The characters often mimic K-pop idols or Anime archetypes - fandoms with over 3.1 billion followers worldwide. This makes the AI feel like a chance to talk to an idol, further blurring the line between fantasy and reality. 

The Paradox of Honesty: If we are more honest with a line of code than with our own best friends, what does that say about the "social cost" of human intimacy? Are we trading the risk of human rejection for the safety of a digital echo chamber?

The Quality of Connection: Can a relationship be considered "real" if the chemistry is one-sided? If a human feels love, but the machine only calculates response probabilities, is the emotion still valid?
