One of the free economic zones in Uzbekistan will host an Uzbek-Chinese JV for manufacturing of children's toys. The partner from China will be Shandong Sanhe Toy, the Committee for Investments said.
At a meeting between the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Investments Laziz Kudratov and the chairman of the Shandong Sanhe Toy Song Jinyuan reportedly discussed the realization of the project and other bilateral affairs.
The Uzbek authorities proposed to consider the creation of an industrial park for manufacturing of children's toys in Tashkent’s Almazar district.
The Uzbek officials noted that cooperation with the Chinese producer is valuable not so much financially as in terms of attracting technologies, modern management methods, quality standards and the brand.
Shandong Sanhe Toy, established in 2005, supplies plush and electric toys to the United States, Canada, the EU and other countries.
In 2016, the imports of toys to Uzbekistan amounted to $ 2.1 million, in 2017 decreased by 29%. The main suppliers of toys to the Uzbek market are China - $2 million (94%), Russia - $43.3 thousand (2.1%) and Lithuania - $16,000 (0.8%).
