Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Moon-Jae-in attended the opening of the Uzbekistan-Korea Republic Business Forum. Uzbekistan and South Korea are long-term investment partners. The volume of Korean investments attracted to the Uzbek economy surpassed US$ 7 billion. The Korean National Oil Company, Eximbank, leading, including Kogas, Lotte group, Samsung, Hyundai, Shindong Resources are involved in the priority projects.
He noted that the negotiations held in Kuksaroy placed special emphasis on supporting relations between businesses of our countries, supporting SMEs.
“The current reform efforts in Uzbekistan open up broad opportunities for the confident implementation of ambitious ideas and large projects. Last year, the number of joint ventures in our country increased by 3 times. Among them are 160 enterprises with Korean capital. We are ready to continue to create the most favorable conditions for expanding the presence of Korean business in Uzbekistan,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The President Moon Jae-in, noted that since ancient times Uzbekistan has been the center of trade, science and culture, today there are opportunities for joint business projects. He expressed the readiness of South Korea to support investment projects in Uzbekistan and share its experience.
The business forum venued by the Tashkent’s Uzexpocenter, was attended by heads of economic and financial institutions, leading companies of the two countries, including more than 350 representatives of 150 companies and organizations of South Korea.
The sides discussed the ways to boost investments the development and implementation of new projects, the trade in goods and services.
Reported US$ 12 billion worth of deals were signed during at the business forum, in such areas and industries as energy, oil and gas, chemical, mining, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, transport and logistics, textile and light industry, infrastructure, ICT, digital medicine. Of particular importance is the deal to hand over the Angren free economic zone to the management of the Incheon free economic zone, on setting up of of drugs production facility in Bustonliq Pharm industrial zone.
The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev called on executives of Korean business to actively make use of evn braoder opportunities created in the Uzbek economy.
