Today, the Mass Media Foundation and the French Embassy in Uzbekistan, as part of the global media literacy week, held a workshop for media workers entitled: Journalistic Ethics in Crisis Situations. The workshop speaker was senior reporter and presenter on the France 24 Elena Volochine.

Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Trustees Nozima Davletova underscored the relevance of this event was due to the fact that to this day not everyone knows how to distinguish between journalism and propaganda.

— We live in a post-truth era, and it is very important, especially for media professionals, to be able to distinguish between objective truthful information and attempts to impose a subjective opinion.

During the workshop, such aspects when presenting information as “fact”, “opinion”, “version” were discussed in detail. Particular emphasis was placed on journalistic ethics when creating content, especially when the information concerns conflict situations. As noted, in these cases, the first place should be not the speed of news delivery, but fact-checking, since such information affects the interests of many people and errors can lead to large-scale negative consequences.
