Fire broke out in a hostel in the Moscow region on the night of May 23, in which Uzbek nationals were killed, Dunyo agency reported. According to provisional information from the consular department of the Uzbek Embassy in Moscow, about 20 foreign citizens lived in the burnt house, 11 of whom were from Uzbekistan.

As a result of the fire, 8 people died, their identities are being established. Among the dead are the nationals of Uzbekistan. Currently, the bodies of the victims are in the forensic medical examination bureau of the city of Istra for identification.

A criminal case has been launched under the Causing death by negligence charge of the Criminal Code of Russia.

The situation is reportedly under the control of the Embassy of Uzbekistan and the representative office of the Agency for External Labor Migration in Moscow.
