On June 4, the Yashnabad district criminal court sentenced the blogger Murod Makhsudov, 42, to 7.5 years in a general colony, the human rights activist Abdurakhmon Tashanov reported and which was later confirmed by the spokesman to the capital’s courts.

The blogger, who has no criminal record, was found guilty under paragraphs “a” and “d” of Libel combined with an accusation of committing a serious or especially serious crime, as well as committed for mercenary or other base motives charge, paragraph “b” Part 2 of Extortion committed on a large scale charge and paragraphs “b” and “d” of Part 2 of Theft by appropriation or embezzlement of someone else’s property, committed repeatedly and by abuse of official position charge of the Criminal Code.

While, the court found Murod Makhsudov not guilty under parts 1 and 2 of the Fraud and deception on a significant scale or by prior conspiracy by a group of persons charge and rehabilitated him under this article.

Abdurakhmon Tashanov, who is the head of the Ezgulik Human Rights Society, said that the trial took placeheld behind closed doors.
