On the evening of June 5, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev landed in Ankara on an official visit. As part of the program, on June 6, he got acquainted with the activities of Turkish Aerospace Industries, the presidential press service said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with items and the production process, and inquired about the results of the company’s scientific cooperation with foreign countries.

Founded in 1984, Turkish Aerospace Industries is Turkey's leading technology center in the design, development, modernization, production and integration of aerospace systems from fixed and rotary wing air platforms to unmanned aerial vehicles and satellites.

In 2023, Turkish Aerospace Industries was included in the list of the 100 major defense companies in the world. On annual revenue of approximately $1.5 billion, the company employs more than 15 thousand people, including about 7,000 engineers, over 6,500 technicians and other employees.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev was also briefed to the activities of a number of other Turkish defense industry enterprises, specializing in the development and production of a wide range of weapons and military equipment.

Aviation demonstration flights took place.

Turkish media, covering this visit, noted that Shavkat Mirziyoyev, accompanied by Vice President of Turkey Cevdet Yılmaz  and General Director of Turkish Aerospace Industries Temel Kotil, inspected the KAAN fighter.

This is a fifth generation Turkish fighter. Its prototype made its first flight in February of this year. The locally produced fighters are expected to replace F-16s.
