At the June 28 government meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev voiced proposals for employment of youth in the summer. Governors and mayors of province and districts have been instructed to hold job fairs in schools, technical schools, universities and parks in the summer. Thanks to this, it is expected that at least 150 thousand young people can be employed in vacant positions.
The head of state noted the importance of organizing “construction crews” in the summer months and attracting 100 thousand young people to paid work on construction sites.
He announced further support for business initiatives to train and employ young people.
From the 2024/2025 academic year, the expenses of entrepreneurs who train students at schools, colleges, technical schools and employ them will be deducted from the tax base. Student income tax and social tax will be set at 1%.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that gyms and stadiums of schools, colleges and universities, swimming pools and libraries will be open to the local youth. It has also been announced that sports competitions, creative competitions and film days will be held during the summer season.
Let us recall that at the same meeting, the president announced that young people who show a result above 75% on the SAT exam (standardized test for admission to US universities) will be able to enter universities in Uzbekistan on a grant basis. In addition, programs will be introduced in 73 lyceums of Uzbekistan, the graduates of which will be able to enter the university without an exam.
College graduates with good grades will receive a diploma that will meet the international standards. They will be able to continue their studies at the university from the second or third year on a contract basis. A Center for Preparation for the Olympiads will be created under the Agency of Presidential Schools.
