The Sultanate of Oman has introduced a visa-free stay for Uzbeks in the country for 14 days, the Omani Embassy in Tashkent said in a statement.

While, Uzbeks who wish to stay longer can apply for an entry visa at the airport when entering Oman.

As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, the new procedure took effect on June 14 - on this day the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received a relevant note.

On June 26-27, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov visited Oman, where he signed an agreement on a visa-free regime for holders of diplomatic passports, as well as for private and official passports.

Uzbekistan announced visa-free regime for Omanis in Uzbekistan for a period of 10 days.

Tourism is one of the biggest contributors to Oman’s economy, accounting for over 10% of the country’s GDP. As the country looks to diversify its economy, it has been injecting investment into the industry. In 2023, the Gulf state welcomed four million visitors, an increase from 2.9 million in 2022, a rise of almost 38%.  

Now, Oman plans to invest $31 billion by 2040 to boost the sector.
