The 1200-mm main water pipe ruptured in Tashkent’s Yunusabad district, at the intersection of Moykurgon and Korakamish streets early on Wednesday morning, causing the streets to be flooded. Photos and footages of flooded streets and courtyards circulated on social networks.
The Toshkent Shahar Suv Taminoti (government entity responsible for water supply in Tashkent city) reported that due to the accident, the water supply to consumers in the Tiklanish (passages 1−6, Gishtkurgon street), Astrabod, Turkiston, Sobirobod mahallas, the Zenit plant, and the Academy of the prosecutor's office and some other facilities was turned off.
Work is now underway to eliminate the accident. Water tankers have been sent to areas where water has been cut off.
