Competition Committee found unreasonable increase in prices for mineral fertilizer products manufactured by Maxam-Chirchiq, the committee said in a statement.

Reportedly, due to non-compliance with current pricing related regulations when setting prices for mineral fertilizers, which rose by an average of 10 to 15%. 

A case was launched against the enterprise on grounds of violation of the Competition Law. 

“The identified factors directly affect agricultural enterprises (clusters, farms, and others), which leads to increased prices for agricultural products,” the statement added. 

The Maxam-Chirchiq (a joint venture between Uzkimyosanoat and the Spanish MAXAMCORP) was set up in 2007 in place of the former ElektroKimyoSanoat in Chirchik, Tashkent province, and is the largest producer of mineral fertilizers and other chemical products in Uzbekistan. 

According to the company’s website, the company manufactures more than 40 types of products: urea, ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate, potassium sulfate, granular nitrogen-sulfur fertilizer, UAN, liquid technical ammonia, technical aqueous ammonia, concentrated nitric acid, non-concentrated nitric acid, liquid carbon dioxide and gaseous and others.
