President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, Zhao Leji, the presidential press service said.
Reportedly, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Zhao Leji commended the highest level of Uzbek-Chinese friendly ties and all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership achieved in recent years.
Zhao Leji reiterated China's support for the socio-economic reform program in Uzbekistan, especially in matters of poverty reduction, as well as plans for strategic cooperation in the development of infrastructure, industrial cooperation, agriculture and green energy.
The parties emphasized the importance of the “early start” of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project.
In addition, they discussed the opening of branches of Chinese universities in Uzbekistan, expanding cooperation in the field of vocational education, as well as issues of cultural and tourist exchange.
They pointed to the need to further expand inter-parliamentary ties, step up exchanges between MPs and study the experience of legislative activity to support ongoing reforms was especially emphasized,” the presidential press service said in a statement.
In Tashkent, Zhao Leji also met with the Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbaeva. They discussed intensifying the work of parliamentary friendship groups, establishing close ties between parliamentary committees, and exchanging experience in the field of lawmaking and parliamentary control. It was proposed to establish connections between the councils of people's deputies of the regions of Uzbekistan and representatives of the provinces of China.
