The Presidential Aide for Media Policies, Komil Allamjonov met with the editors-in-chief, directors and CEOs of public, private television and radio channels and other mass media outlets on Wednesday.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the problems TV and radio channels, mass media and media networks are facing, new trends, the state of the press in the near future, as well as the creation of national content. They exchanged opinions on changing the unhealthy media environment, in particular, improving legislation in the field, and regulating journalistic ethics.
Mass media have been since recently putting too much of emphasis on lurid features and sensationalized news , and there is a tendency to exaggerate various unpleasant situations, including murders and deaths.
In addition, we are witnessing an increase in the number of fakes and disinformation in social networks and in the press.
From this point of view, Komil Allamjonov suggested to modify such an unhealthy media environment, in particular, improving legislation in the field, and regulating journalistic ethos.
