The new chief of the Road Safety Service of the Department of Public Security, Sherzod Ibragimov, addressed the public. At the beginning of his address, he underscored that the main goal of the reforms being implemented in the country in recent years is “reliably serving the interests of our multinational people based on the principle of respect for human dignity.”

He underscored the constant increase in the number and types of vehicles and emphasized that under such circumstances, “each of us must first of all be an obedient road user.”

“Our esteemed president, not only did he set us big tasks to implement new transformations to ensure reliable safety of people on the roads and sharply reduce the number of deaths, but also created new opportunities and conditions,” he said.

Sherzod Ibragimov announced the taking effect (from July 21) of the Road Traffic law signed in January, which “defines strict liability for government bodies, and also establishes qualitatively new mechanisms.”

“The President pays great attention to ensuring that laws are strictly implemented in practice, and not on paper, so that reforms penetrate into every home and mahalla, so that our compatriots always feel their practical effect in their daily lives,” he said.

He added that in Uzbekistan, “one of the main areas of ensuring road safety was the creation of decent conditions for the safe movement of road users based on priority: pedestrians, public transport, bicycle and automobile transport.”

He emphasized that the main task of the service was to promote “a culture of respect and unconditional compliance by drivers and pedestrians with the Traffic Rules, the formation of immunity among the population to traffic violations, the study of the true factors of accidents from a scientific point of view and their comprehensive elimination, the creation of a reliable safety system before training establishments, in hot spots of accidents and at pedestrian crossings, as well as an uncompromising fight against regular offenders.”

“Early prevention of road accidents, and most importantly, the protection of people in them from mortality and injury, is achieved through culture, strict order and safe conditions,” he emphasized.

“Dear fellow countrymen, ensuring the safety of citizens on the roads and preventing accidents is our common duty. If we jointly make every effort and opportunity to combat violations of traffic rules, we will contribute to preserving the life and health of our people, our children,” said the head of the department.

“By fully realizing your rights and responsibilities on the roads, you will not only have demonstrated compliance with the law, but also promote the Rules of the Road for others. Only if we all fully comply with the Traffic Rules will our roads be safe,” he said.

“Dear compatriots, let each of us, leaving home, following the rules, return safely to his family. Let’s all contribute to this good cause,” said Sherzod Ibragimov.

The chief of the Road Safety Service also said that he would soon hold a press conference for media.
