On Wednesday, social media users in Uzbekistan reported slowdown in YouTube video loading. The press service of the Ministry of Digital Technologies said that YouTube was working “normally” and “there was no slowing down in Uzbekistan.”

The spokesman to the Ministry of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Akhmatov, clarified that the situation with the load slowdown of the video hosting in Russia, which Russian media are reporting these days, “will not affect Uzbekistan in any way.”

“If YouTube slows down in one country, this will not affect Uzbekistan in any way, even if the main network is turned off. This also applies to other online services. The country is not connected to one particular country and buys Internet in several country,” he explained.

He also pointed out that Google, which owns YouTube, has caching servers.

On July 26, the chief of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, reported a slowdown in YouTube loading by up to 40% due to “inaction” on the part of the company. According to him, approximately 80% of the service’s main content, which Russians watch, is stored on Google servers in the Russian Federation. They require constant maintenance, which the company does not provide due to sanctions, he said.
