The Senate’s speaker Tanzila Norboeva hosted the chief of the representative office of UNFPA in Uzbekistan Nigina Abaszade. The parties reviewed the current state and perspectives of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNFPA, including matters related to the projects and activities implemented in Uzbekistan with the support of the fund.
They also discussed cooperation when taking into account the current demographic processes in the development of socio-economic development plans of the provinces of Uzbekistan, cooperation on the population census in 2025-2026. In addition, concrete proposals were put forward to achieve the effectiveness of projects aimed at maintaining the health of the population, improving reproductive health and increasing the potential of personnel based on the use of modern technologies.
During the dialogue, they also exchanged opinions on the effective use of best practices in the implementation of the laws adopted in the country on combating violence, and it was determined that special measures will be developed in this regard.
Also, yesterday, an international webinar was organized by the Senate's Committee on Information Policy and Transparency in State Bodies in cooperation with the Statistics Agency and the coordinator of OSCE projects in Uzbekistan. It analyzed the use of successful international case studies and innovative methodologies in collecting, analyzing and disseminating gender data, improving the current practice of gender data in Uzbekistan, adapting to international standards, and setting short-term and long-term goals for their improvement.
