An accident in which a young child died in Urgut district of Samarkand province. The accident happened on June 24, 2024 in the Lower Algar neighborhood of the district. A driver I.R. 38, in his GM Cobalt car driving on Toiloq-Urgut hit N.N., 3, who was crossing the road. As a result, the child died.
Reportedly, the driver grossly violated the traffic rules. In particular, he failed to comply with the conditional rule that when approaching an unregulated crosswalk, he must slow down or stop to let pass the pedestrian(s) crossing the roadway. That is, he saw the child crossing the road without stopping the car and continued moving.
According to the conclusion of the Samarkand province traffic police, the steering control and working brake system of the Cobalt car were operational. Also, the conclusion stated that the driver had the technical ability to prevent the accident by emergency braking and stopping the car.
Criminal case was launched against I.R. under the Violation of the safety rules of the movement of vehicles or their use, causing death of a person, and he was arrested as precautionary measure.
