A young lion was illegally kept in a house in Urgench, Khorezm province, the press service of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change said.
The animal was discovered during an operation conducted by the inspection task force of the provincial environmental department together with the Urgench city police department.
A charge sheet was drawn up against E.S., in whose house the lion was found, under the Violation of the rules for the protection of animal habitats, rules for the creation of zoological and botanical collections and trade in them, as well as unauthorized resettlement, acclimatization or crossbreeding of animals charge and a fine of 1.7 million soums, or 130 USD was issued.
The animal was temporarily transferred to the Nukus Zoo.
