398 senior officials of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Utilities, the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Agriculture were found to be holding stakes in 449 business entities, a study by the Anti-Corruption Agency said.
The agency submitted orders to these ministries, after which the violations had reportedly been rectified.
The agency called on people to report cases of corruption by calling 1253 or via the eanticor.uz platform.
At the beginning of the year, the Anti-Corruption Agency reported the elimination of cases of conflict of interest among a number of officials. Two khokims, a deputy minister of energy, heads of the Pharmaceutical Agency, the Anti-Doping Center, the Central Depository, the PR Center and the Information Technology Center of the Central Bank left the founders and managers of the companies.
According to Article 13 of the State Civil Service Law, a civil servant cannot found business entities, hold stakes, or hold organizational and managerial or administrative role in company.
While, according to the standard rules of ethical conduct for civil servants, they should not engage in business or other paid activities (except for teaching, scientific and creative).
The Conflict of Interest Law, which will take effect at the end of the year, prohibits officials of government agencies from hold stakes of business entities, with the exception of cases of owning up to 10% of freely traded shares of a JSC.
