Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Uzbekistan on October 28-29 on a working visit and will be received by the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. This was announced at a briefing by the official spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"From October 28 to 29, the head of the foreign policy department will visit the Republic of Uzbekistan on a working visit. It is planned that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will be received by the president of the republic, and will also hold talks with the head of the foreign policy department of this country," she said.
According to Zakharova, the main focus during the talks will be on the ways to further deepen and develop the Russian-Uzbek partnership, with an emphasis on the implementation of agreements following the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the republic in May 2024. "From this angle, it is expected to consider the bilateral agenda, current international and regional issues of mutual interest," the diplomat said.
She reported that a separate topic will be “the diplomatic support for the processes of Eurasian integration, taking into account Uzbekistan’s observer status in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).”
