The Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen — the ruling Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan — got the most seats in the new Legislative Chamber following Sunday's elections. This was announced at a press conference on Monday by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev.
For the first time this year, parliamentary elections took place under a mixed system — majoritarian (single-member constituencies) and proportional (based on party lists). 75 MPs were elected under each system, with 150 in total.
According to provisional information, 26 MPs were elected to the Legislative Chamber from UzLiDeP on party lists (5,194,041, or 34.75% of the voters' votes were cast for them).
The Milliy Tiklanish Democratic Party won 14 seats (2,812,493, 18.82%), the People's Democratic Party won 13 seats (2,558,016, 17.11%), the Adolat Social Democratic Party won 12 seats (2,420,857, 16.2%), and the Ecological Party won 10 seats (1,960,764, 13.12%).
In single-mandate constituencies, 38 MPs were elected to the lower house of parliament from UzLiDeP, 15 - from Milliy Tiklanish, 9 - from Adolat, 7 - from the NDPU and 6 from the EcoParty.
Thus, out of 150 seats, UzLiDeP won 64, or 42.7%, Milliy Tiklanish - 29 (19.3%), Adolat - 21 (14%), 20 from the NDPU (13%) and the EcoParty - 16 (10.7%).
As reported earlier, 74.72% of registered voters, or 15,027,527 out of more than 19.944 million, voted in the elections. A total of 140,388 people voted abroad (early voting: 132,667).
