Kazakh technology company Kaspi.kz has decided not to bid for the purchase of 100% stake in the state-owned National Interbank Processing Center, which operates the Humo payment system in Uzbekistan.
In August, the company sent a non-binding letter of interest to the State Asset Management Agency (SAMA), expressing interest in the purchase of Humo.
“At this time, we have decided not to continue participating in this process. Uzbekistan’s economy is growing rapidly, and the government is implementing an attractive reform program… We will continue to look for opportunities to participate in Uzbekistan’s exciting digital transformation,” the statement said.
It should be noted that when posting the announcement of the start of the privatization of Humo, SAMA made a mistake in different language versions. In the announcements in Uzbek and Russian, the deadline for submitting expressions of interest from potential bidders was set until 18:00 local time on August 22, in English - until 18:00 on August 30.
The SAMA’s press service explained this as a technical error and corrected it for August 22.
